Learning how to decipher these entryways allows players to claim valuable gear and decorative collectibles hidden inside secret rooms.
Understanding the Creature Symbol Values
The archway surrounding each door features ten distinct animal symbols arranged in a specific sequence. Starting from the bottom-left creature and moving clockwise around the frame, each symbol represents a number from 0 to 9. For instance, the Demiguise equals zero, the Unicorn stands for one, and the multi-headed Hydra represents nine.
While players can find a cipher note near the Divination Classroom in the Library Annex, knowing the 0-to-9 counting order makes the document unnecessary. Simply count the icons along the arch starting at zero from the bottom left to instantly identify any creature's numerical value.
Decoding the Math Equations
Interacting with an Arithmancy door reveals two separate triangle equations in the center panel. The number displayed inside the center circle represents the total sum required for that specific triangle. To solve an equation, add the values of the known numbers and creature icons together, then subtract that sum from the central total. Locating and Rolling the Interactive Dials
Wall dials are usually embedded into the stone walls directly adjacent to the doorway. However, some puzzle locations feature hidden dials placed on different floors or around nearby corridor corners.
